MACON COUNTY, Ill. - Macon County Emergency Management is putting out an urgent request for additional cooling center locations.
With highs expected in the mid-90s Monday (96° in Decatur) and humidity making it feel like 100°-110°, the need for spots to cool down safely is critically important.
Macon County EMA said it needs locations willing to be open as cooling centers, especially during weekend hours.
Facilities such as churches, community centers, and businesses that are willing to serve as cooling centers are asked to contact Tammy D. Schneider, Macon County EMA director at (217) 424-1330 or Justin Root, Macon County EMA assistant at (217) 424-1327.
