MONTICELLO, Ill. (WAND) - The Monticello Community Garden has hit a major milestone, celebrating a decade of service.
The garden is a partnership between the University of Illinois, Kirby Medical Center and the City of Monticello.
Forty plots are available each year from May through October, and residents use the land to grow anything from flowers to produce to help those in need.
"We interview the food banks, and the assisted living and the nursing homes, and then we find out what they will eat, and then we grow that," said volunteer Mary Kay Randall.
Gardeners have access to water within the plots.
