(WAND) - Are you looking for somewhere to dispose of your live Christmas tree? WAND News has compiled a list of locations across central Illinois accepting trees.Â
CHAMPAIGN:Â
Champaign's Holiday Tree Collection Program is available to all residential properties within the City’s corporate limits. City residents must place their tree within four feet of the curb by 6 a.m. on Monday, January 13, 2025, for collection.Â
Trees with stands, decorations, tinsel, lights, artificial snow/frost, plastic bags, or any other materials that make the trees non-recyclable will not be collected. Collected trees are chipped and made into garden mulch.
Holiday trees will not be collected by zone. Residents may take trees to the Landscape Recycling Center at 1210 E. University Avenue in Urbana, Illinois, during the months of January and February for free disposal.
CHARLESTON:
The Charleston Illinois Police Department will host a curbside collection of live trees on January 8 and 9. They said all of the trees would need to be placed at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, January 8.
The trees will be turned into mulch by the city's landscape waste facility, located off West Madison Avenue. Residents can also dispose of their trees there if they choose to.
DANVILLE:Â
Christmas trees and other holiday greenery will be collected from December 30th through January 3rd and January 6th through January 9th. Any remaining yard waste may be placed out during those two weeks.Â
In addition to Christmas tree collections, a Special Holiday Collection will take place from December 30th through January 3rd. During this week, residents may place additional Holiday waste beside the city-issued Toter. All additional waste must be inside plastic bags. Any boxes should be compacted and bundled.
DECATUR:Â

Donated Christmas trees are bundled together in small groups and submerged in the lake at different locations. These structures provide fish with breeding areas and escape cover.
Trees will be collected in Shelbyville and Sullivan. The designated collection site in Sullivan is at Sullivan 66 Gas Station south of Sullivan on Route 32.
Trees can be dropped off inside the snow fence area on the north side of the building. Do not leave trees in the parking lot.

Trees will be collected at both sites through March 1, 2025.
