CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) — The coroner is identifying two 18-year-olds who were killed in a shooting in Champaign.Â
The shooting happened after midnight Sunday in the 2000 block of Cynthia Drive.
Police said four people were hit, including an 18-year-old man and 18-year-old woman who died after being taken to the hospital.
The Champaign County Coroner identified the victims as George Dorris-Rodgers and Daniyjah Staple, both of Champaign.Â
Police said people were gathered in the parking lot when "a subject or subjects produced firearms and opened fire."
Rodgers was shot in the chest. Staple was shot in the leg and torso.
Two others were injured, a 25-year-old woman (non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her arm) and a 15-year-old boy (non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his leg). They remain hospitalized in stable condition, police said.
It comes a day after another incident at a popup party in Champaign sent two women to the hospital with gunshot wounds.
