24 arrested in drug, weapons seizure in Logan County

LOGAN COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) - Twenty-four people were arrested as part of a narcotics and weapons seizure in Logan County.

On Thursday, November 21, officers and deputies of the Lincoln Police Department, Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Central Illinois Enforcement Group and United States Marshall’s Service Great Lakes Fugitive Task Force conducted an arrest warrant detail in Lincoln and Logan County.

The warrants were issued for defendants following narcotics and weapons investigations conducted by agents assigned to the Central Illinois Enforcement Group from the Lincoln Police Department and Logan County Sheriff’s Office.

Overall, 24 arrests were made, resulting in a total of 61 criminal charges.

Eleven of those were class X felonies, 23 were class 1 felonies, 23 were class 2 felonies, 2 were class 3 felonies and 1 was a class 4 felony.

Several additional, unrelated, warrant arrests were made during the operation. Three defendants were charged with federal offenses. Three adults were charged with delivery of methamphetamine. One adult was charged with unlawful sale of a firearm. 21 Defendants were charged with state offenses. 12 adults were charged with delivery of cocaine. Nine adults were charged with delivery of methamphetamine. Three adults were charged with delivery of heroin or fentanyl. One adult was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.

Officials said several investigations revealed the sales of multiple types of drugs by the same defendants, so the numbers reflected above do not coincide with the actual number of court cases filed.
