ATWOOD, Ill. (WAND) — The Atwood Police Department has asked residents to be wary of car burglaries.
The department reported on a social media post that the area "is experiencing a high volume of vehicle burglaries."
In one incident, two cars were burglarized as shoppers were inside a Dollar General. APD said that one person followed the shoppers inside to keep a lookout while another broke into the cars.
Police advise locals to always lock their cars and take valuables with them.
