QUINCY, Ill. (WAND) — A representative from Niemann Foods, Inc. told WAND News that the company will be closing pharmacy locations in Springfield and Champaign.
Prescriptions will be transferred to CVS. Signs posted at local County Markets said the switch would be happening June 10.
WAND has reached out to learn more about why the company is leaving this part of the business.
Last month, the Illinois legislature sent a bill to Governor Pritzker's desk that would crack down on pharmacy benefit managers, also known as pharmacy middlemen.
Lawmakers argued that PBMs had negative effects on local pharmacies, and drive up prescription costs for Illinoisans.
