(WAND) — The Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) is adopting a few new proposed rules following their April 24 meeting.

First, gamblers will no longer be able to use credit cards to fund sports betting accounts. The move is meant to support responsible gambling, according to the IGB.

"Problem gamblers are particularly at risk," said IGB administrator Marcus D. Fruchter. "And studies have show an often-problematic willingness for compulsive gamblers to use credit cards to place bets."

The board is also adopting rules that will permit cashless wagering in Illinois casinos and require record retention for video gaming sales agents.

These new regulations will now head to the General Assembly's Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR) for public comment and the approval process.
