PARIS, Ill. (WAND) -- A Paris man is dead after being hit while walking down the road.
Edgar County Coroner Scott Barrett said, it happened on East 1200th Rd. just after 8 p.m. Saturday.
Barrett said, a woman called police when she found the man lying in the road.
Dakota J. Gibson, 34, of Paris was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation shows Gibson was walking west on East 1200th Road, approximately one mile east of Illinois Route 1, when a vehicle struck him from behind. The vehicle left the scene.
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
The incident remains under investigation.
