EFFINGHAM, Ill. (WAND) — Two Effingham teenagers were arrested Tuesday after police said they shot a stolen gun in the woods.
According to the Effingham Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunshots in a wooded area near the intersection of East Eiche Avenue and South 4th Street just before 6 p.m.
When they arrived, officers detained 19-year-old Camden Evans and a 16-year-old boy. Police said after questioning them, officers determined that they were shooting at a target in the woods.Â
Officers found the gun, which they determined to be stolen.
Evans and the 16-year-old boy were arrested on several charges, including possession of a stolen firearm, reckless discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, and resisting or obstructing a peace officer.
