(WAND) - Strong storms rolled through Central Illinois overnight and into Friday morning, leaving behind heavy rain and dangerous road conditions.
According to Paxton Emergency Response Service in Ford County, several roads have been barricaded or blocked off due to flash flooding in the Paxton area including:
- Taft & Walnut
- Rose Lawn & Stockholm
- Orleans & High
- Orleans & College
IDOT also reports that Rt. 9 between Paxton & Gibson City is closed.

The Village of Gifford reports that Main Street toward the south end of downtown is closed temporarily due to flooding.
WAND Meteorologist say the severe weather threat has diminished for now, but heavy rain continues to move through the area, creating hazardous conditions for the morning commute.
Street flooding has already been reported in Champaign, with some roads becoming impassible. High water issues are affecting areas along the I-74 corridor. Drivers should avoid flooded roadways and allow extra time for their commute.
The Coles County EMA Director said South 16th Street near IL 16 in Charleston was closed due to flooding. 6th Street near Polk Ave. was also closed for flooding.
There were also reports of flash flooding in Danville. The National Weather Service in Lincoln said between 3 and 6 inches of rain had fallen in the last several hours.
Flash flood warnings were extended in several counties Friday morning, including Coles, Douglas, Edgar, and Vermilion.
