DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The man accused of accidentally shooting and killing a woman in Decatur over the weekend is out on pre-trial release.

Christian Luthy appeared before a judge on Tuesday for the first time.

According to the Decatur Police Department, officers were dispatched around 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 14 to the 1700 block of North Summit Avenue for a report of a person shot inside the home.

Police said Luthy called 911 and reported that he had accidentally shot a woman inside the home.

When officers arrived, they found a 26-year-old woman who had been shot. She was taken to Decatur Memorial Hospital, where she later died.

The coroner identified her as Alexandra Wilson.

Luthy was later taken to DPD headquarters for questioning. Following the investigation, Luthy was arrested on a charge of involuntary manslaughter.

Luthy is due back in court in March.
