VERMILION COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) - A man was sentenced to 12 years in prison for sexually assaulting a minor in 2023.Â
On June 3, Jeremy Lowenstein of Oakwood pleaded guilty to Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault.Â
He will have to serve his sentence at 85% and will be registered as a sex offender for life.
The People presented evidence that on July 25, 2023, deputies with the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department were called to Carle in Urbana for a sexual assault report. Officers learned the minor victim had disclosed to health professionals a sexual assault by Jeremy Lowenstein. A forensic interview was conducted at the Vermilion County Child Advocacy Center.Â
State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy said of the sentencing, “This sentence holds this sexual predator accountable for the devastating choices he made and removes a dangerous offender from our community. Seeking justice for victims and protecting children remain among the highest priorities of my office."Â
