road work

MACON COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) - The County Highway 20 (Illiniwick Road) and Greenswitch Road intersection between Forsyth and Oreana will be converted from a two-way stop to an all-way stop Friday.

The intersection traffic control will have oversized stop signs with solar powered circular red flashing beacons and oversized double stop ahead signs on all approaches.

This conversion comes in response to concerns about the number of crashes that have happened there in recent years.

The County Engineer performed a traffic study and determined that All-Way Stop warrants were met using national guidelines established in the Manual of Unform Traffic Control Devices. The Macon County Board approved the All-Way Stop at its September 12 meeting.

This project is funded with County Highway tax levy funds.
