DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — The local community as well as the weather helped the Danville Police Department arrest a man for unlawful use of a weapon.

Shots were fired around the 900 block of Main Street about 4:30 p.m. as snow was falling around Danville.

Officers investigating the scene said they were aided by community members and the weather, as the suspect in the shooting was able to be tracked to a nearby house.

After obtaining a search warrant, 19-year-old Alvin L Daniels of Danville was arrested for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated discharge of a firearm, and obstructing/resisting a peace officer.
