Market place mall

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - The 16-year-old boy who died after being shot in a mall parking lot in Champaign has been identified.

Champaign police said they responded to a fight near the Dick's House of Sport store at the Market Place Shopping Center on N. Neil Street around 6:15 p.m. Saturday.

It's unknown how many people were involved in the fight or how it started. Police said at least one person fired a gun.

The teen, later identified by the Champaign County Coroner as Jaylen Bailey, was taken to a hospital but died several hours later.
