DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — A Decatur man whose 7-month-old died from head trauma pleaded guilty to aggravated battery on Thursday.
Joshua O. Tyson, 20, was charged in the death of his 7-month-old child who died from his injuries on Feb. 5, 2022.
On Feb. 3, 2022, officers went to a home in the 1000 block of W. Cerro Gordo for a report of an injured child. When they arrived, they found a boy with head trauma. He was taken to Decatur Memorial Hospital HSHS St. Johns in Springfield where he died from his injuries.

Tyson was arrested on March 28, 2023 by the United States Marshals Service Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force. He was charged with aggravated battery and booked into the Macon County Jail.
On Nov. 30, Tyson pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to 10 years in prison to be followed by three years of Mandatory Supervised Release. He will be given credit for time served from March 28, 2023 through Nov. 29, 2023.
