DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A dog was killed in a house fire in Decatur Monday night. 

The Decatur Fire Department was called to a house in the 1700 block of E. Locust St. at 11:33 p.m.

Flames were showing from both inside and outside the home when crews arrived. 

Bystanders told firefighters someone may still be inside. Crews searched and found that no people were inside but a dog was, and it did not survive. 

The fire was quickly brought under control. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Decatur Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau.
