JANESVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - A fire destroyed a home and displaced three people in Janesville Monday afternoon.

The Lincoln Fire Protection District said on Facebook it responded to the fire at 2 p.m. along Main Street in the small town, located about 14 miles southeast of Mattoon.

The fire had also threatened a nearby house.

Firefighters had cleared the scene by 6 p.m. 

LFPD stated that the home and everything inside were deemed a "complete loss," and the fire's cause is currently unknown.  

No one was hurt, but four pets, including two dogs and two cats, could not be found and are presumed dead.

The victims displaced are being helped by the American Red Cross.
