DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Three people were hurt after a shooting at a large gathering outside of a Decatur bar Sunday morning.

According to the Decatur Police Department, officers responded to the Bourbon Barrel Bar and Grill just after 2 a.m. after reports of a large party.

Police said that at some point, the members of the group went from partying and yelling, to shouting and arguing. While officers were responding, they received additional calls that there were gunshots and several people had been hit.

DPD told WAND News that officers found 20 shell casings from two different caliber guns, and three people had been shot.

A 22-year-old man was shot in the toe and sustained non-life threatening injuries. A 26-year-old man was grazed by a bullet to the abdomen and sustained non-life threatening injuries. A 17-year-old boy was shot in the hand and forearm. Police said it was a severe but non-life threatening injury, and that the boy could lose use of a limb.

According to police, the victims were not cooperative, but witnesses told officers that the suspect was a black man dressed in all black, with some reports saying he had a black mask on his face.

"It should be unacceptable to society and everybody at that party that so many lives were risked because somebody wanted to settle a conflict by shooting a gun," DPD Sergeant Brandon Rolfs said.

Police are still searching for the shooter. Anyone with information is asked to call the Decatur Police Department at 217-424-2711 or Macon County Crime Stoppers at 217-423-8477.

"For witnesses at that party, even if they don't know the young men that were shot, if the public doesn't help us put a stop to the shootings, eventually someone they know and love will be the person that is shot," Rolfs said.
