(WAND) - As the weather continues to warm, road projects across the state are resuming. Law enforcement is encouraging people to remember to slow down and move over.Â
Interstates 74 and 57 will be experiencing ramp closures and will have detours for people who are looking to travel to different areas.Â
Illinois State Police troopers have reported they had 12 violations of Scott's law in 2024, with one of them leading to someone being killed.Â
The Illinois Department of Transportation is urging drivers to be cautious when driving near construction sites.Â
"It's the law. You have to follow that speed limit. Most of the people injured or killed in work zones are motorists and passengers, not the workers," said Illinois Department of Transportation Public Information Officer Paul Wappel. Â
Wappel wants everyone to return home safely at the end of the day. But that can't happen without responsible drivers.Â
"Please slow down. Obey the posted speed limit. When you're entering into a work zone, we want everybody to get from point A to point B safely," said Wappel.Â
