PARIS, Ill. (WAND) - The family of a Paris woman who was struck by an Edgar County dump truck and died last year is suing the county and the driver.

The lawsuit accused the driver, Dawson Watson, of failing to yield to a pedestrian, identified as 67-year-old Teresa Bradley, at a marked crosswalk and of driving too fast.

The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. Nov. 17, at the intersection of Wood Street and Central Avenue.

According to a review of the case report by WAND News, police said Bradley had a walk signal at the intersection when Watson began to make a turn. While Bradley was halfway across the street, the walk signal turned into a blinking do not walk signal.

She was hit by the truck, and police said she had hit her head on the pavement. Bradley died from her injuries the following day.

Dawson was not hurt in the collision.

Police cited Dawson at the scene for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. It's unclear if he faced additional charges.
