MONTICELLO, Ill. (WAND) — A former Monticello police officer has pleaded guilty to two counts of child pornography.
William “Craig” Griswold was charged in Piatt County Circuit Court with four counts of dissemination of child pornography, Class X felonies each punishable by up to 30 years in prison.
Griswold was charged in August of 2024. He was hired by the Monticello Police Department in 2010.
Earlier this month, Griswold pleaded guilty to two of the four counts. The other two were dismissed.
Griswold will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
He will return to court for sentencing in late May.
