(WAND) - One lucky lottery player took home the first Mega Millions jackpot of 2026. 

A single ticket sold in Illinois matched all six numbers in Tuesday night's drawing, winning an estimated $533 million prize. 

The winner can choose the full jackpot paid out over time, or a lump-sum cash option worth around $244 million before taxes. 

According to the Illinois Lottery, this was the largest prize won by a U.S. online lottery player, and the fifth Illinois Lottery player to win a Mega Millions jackpot in the last five years. 

Additionally, another Illinois iLottery player won $5 million during a drawing on Tuesday.
