35-year-old man killed in fatal crash on I-74 in Vermilion County identified

VERMILION COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) - One person was killed in a crash on Interstate 74 in Vermilion County early Tuesday.

The Champaign County Coroner has identified the person killed as Isaiah Edmond, 35, of Indiana. 

Illinois State Police were called to I-74 westbound at milepost 201 near Fithian for a two-vehicle crash shortly before 4 a.m.

Edmond was pronounced dead at 5:27 a.m. at the Carle Foundation Hospital Emergency Department.

An autopsy is scheduled for later this week.

The death is being investigated by the Illinois State Police and the Champaign

County Coroner’s Office.

ISP said the crash involved a passenger car and tractor-trailer.

The interstate has since reopened.
