CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - The Champaign City Council approved a plan to create a rental registry and vacant commercial building registry Tuesday evening.
Landlords told council they are worried about their privacy and said the city should be targeting slumlords, not all landlords.
However, the city council said there have been issues with recent property owners, and they must take action to improve transparency and accountability.
The plan passed unanimously.
