DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Decatur City Council approved a $180,000 payment to the Champaign County Regional Planning Commission to create a "road map" for the future of its bus service.
This will cover the cost of the Decatur urban area transportation study, and find out what's working with city bus stops, along with what must change.
"We need this because, as you know, transit has changed drastically in the past three years. We have realigned some of our fixed routes, and we've introduced micro-transit. So the phase 3 of this is to be able to do a comprehensive bus stop study," said Economic & Community Development Director Lacie Elzy.
The study will find which stops are no longer being used, and where new stops may be needed.
It would also help ensure every stop is ADA-compliant for riders.
