DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Primary Elections see a lower turnout than general elections.

County clerks saw a slow start to the morning, but voter traffic picked up after work ended for a lot of people in the area.

Macon County Clerk Josh Tanner said the majority of the questions his office received were about the different ballots.

"Every primary, voters tend to forget that you have to choose one side or the other to vote for. And in this primary race, a lot of people [were] interested in the sheriff's race, and we have had a few people switch ballots," Tanner said.

The Illinois General Election is Nov. 3.
