ARTHUR, Ill. (WAND) — Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond High School is being demolished, but the school district is allowing people to take home bricks from the site.
On Wednesday, community members visited the site and grabbed a brick to keep as a memento.
Arthur resident Ryan Malin said the bricks mean more to him than people might think.
"I've had my family, I've had my grandparents, my parents [have] been in the school," Malin said. "I think it's very impactful to have [these] little keepsakes."
The district aims to move students into the new facility by the 2027-28 school year.
Until then, students will attend classes at other district buildings.
