SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - A man was arrested on drug and gun charges in Springfield. 

On November 7, Springfield police arrested Robert Kemp, 55, of Springfield following an ongoing narcotics investigation. 

Officers tried to stop Kemp near 4th and Cook, but they said he ran away. They were able to catch him and got warrants for a hotel room and a residence related to Kemp. 

After searching Kemp and the addresses, officers recovered: 

• Approximately 60 grams of suspected methamphetamine

• Approximately 5 grams of suspected crack cocaine 

• Approximately 40 grams of suspected cannabis

• A 9mm pistol

Kemp was arrested for manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, possession of firearms – no FOID, armed habitual criminal, armed violence and resisting a peace officer.

Kemp was transported to the Sangamon County Jail.
