TALLUA, Ill. (WAND) - An overnight storm blew through rural Menard County late Tuesday. Trees and limbs fell while heavy damage occurred at a Tallua farm.

Mike Loeffler was in bed with his window partially open. The wind picked up, and he told WAND News the windows started “pulsating.”

“There was a grain bin that went on the south side of our house. Then there was a shed and it just exploded and came this way and wrapped around the house,” Loeffler said.

His home was not damaged despite a large amount of debris surrounding it.

In nearby Petersburg, the Menard County Fairgrounds had two buildings damaged, with one structure losing about a third of its roof. A utility pole fell, pulling down electric lines with it.

Fair Board President Ben Hollis said repairs will be made in time for the start of the county fair on July 14.
