DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Thousands of people are without power Thursday evening as severe storms move across central Illinois.Â
At 9 p.m. Thursday, PowerOutage.com reported the following counties with outages in central Illinois.
- Sangamon County - 14,609
- Logan County - 2,023
- DeWitt County - 1,717
- Macon County - 1,839
- Champaign County - 9,834
- Vermilion County - 12,167
- Piatt County - 1,509
- Christian County - 576
- Moultrie County - 522
- Iroquois County - 4,012
- Ford County - 497
Strong storms produced several tornado watches and warnings Thursday afternoon into the evening. Â
City Water Light and Power in Springfield said that multiple areas have been affected. Areas with the largest outages are as follows:
- E. Cook to E. Laurel west of Taylor
- Grand Central
- Lake Springfield
- Lincoln Park
- Oak Ridge
- Old Jacksonville & Monroe
- W Washington near Jefferson Park
- W. Koke Mill
- Washington Park
- Woodside Rd.
An estimated time for power to be fully restored is unknown.Â
