Fifth Street closure in Champaign

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - Part of Fifth Street in Champaign will be closed for most of the month of March. 

To facilitate construction at 502 S. Fifth Street, University Group will close Fifth Street between Springfield Avenue and Healey Street starting March 9. 

It will reopen on Friday, March 27, weather permitting. 

During the closure, through traffic will not be allowed. Access will be maintained to all local properties. 

Drivers are reminded to pay attention to traffic control devices and use alternate routes to avoid the closure.
