Police called to Decatur crash

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Police responded to a crash in Decatur Wednesday afternoon.

The crash between a semi and personal vehicle happened on Garfield.

Decatur Police said their investigation showed that a 2022 Freightliner Semi was traveling eastbound on Garfield Ave in the left-hand driving lane. A 2015 Chevy Tahoe was traveling eastbound in the right-hand driving lane.

Police said the semi made a right turn to go into the parking lot of 2195 E Garfield Ave. and struck the Tahoe causing the Tahoe to leave the roadway and strike a pole.

The driver of the semi was cited for improper turn. The driver of the Tahoe was cited for speeding; 55 MPH in a 35 MPH zone.

The road was closed down until the vehicles were cleared and Ameren had completed their work.
