DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Rep. Sue Scherer (D-Decatur) will remain in the Illinois House following Tuesday's election.
Scherer faced challenger Lisa Smith (R-Mt Auburn) for the second straight election. The Democrat finished the night with 59% of the vote compared to Smith's 41%.
The 96th House district covers parts of Sangamon and Macon counties.
Scherer has been a member of the Illinois General Assembly since January 2013.
