CHAMPAIGN - U of I law professor Francis Boyle wants to suspend all liquor sales in Champaign on March 2nd which is this year's Unofficial Saint Patrick's Day on campus.
Boyle wrote a letter to Governor Pat Quinn about why that day is dangerous to the health and safety of not only students but the entire city.
He says he's gone to the mayors and city councils of Champaign and Urbana, but had no luck stopping the sale of alcohol for Unofficial in previous years.
Boyle believes Unofficial adds to the drinking problem on campus that is promoted by bar owners.
He says he wants Governor Quinn to use his emergency powers from the Illinois Emergency Management Act to suspend every bar and liquor license in the city that day.
