DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — WAND News was awarded two regional Edward R. Murrow Awards on Tuesday by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA).
The awards are for Excellence in Writing and Sports Reporting.
The Murrow Awards are the embodiment of the values, principles and standards set forth by Edward R. Murrow, a journalism pioneer who set the standards for the highest quality of broadcast journalism.
RTDNA says of the awards given to journalists, the Murrow Awards are among the most respected journalism awards in the world.
The Excellence in Writing Award was submitted by WAND Wake Up Anchor Deron Molen. The Sports Reporting award was submitted by Molen and WAND Photojournalist Eric Ahola.
The two regional awards are now under consideration for a National Murrow Award.
