JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - A tournament planned for this weekend will still continue after a severe storm damaged the Future Champions Sports Complex in Jacksonville.

There was extensive damage to the facility restaurant, which the storm passed directly through. Debris and insulation from the building was scattered across multiple fields. Projectiles tore down protective nets, and multiple yards of fencing were bent or warped.

On Friday the Complex posted to social media the clean up work was still underway, however the complex restaurant that was damaged in the storm was close to being back open for business just in time for the weekends event.

The complex has their annual "Play the Turf" Tournament scheduled for June 20-22. WAND News learned the tournament will go on. They will use fields around the area. Volunteers are coming in from SHG Football to help clean up the fields.

With damage on four of their six fields, rebuilding and cleaning up the 28 acres of campus will take time.
