Grim humanitarian conditions remain in Gaza months after the ceasefire paused two years of war between Israel and Hamas militants. A Palestinian baby that died from hypothermia on Tuesday in the Gaza Strip is among the more than 100 children who have died since the start of the ceasefire in October. Residents say shortages of blankets and warm clothing remain. At the same time, world leaders are gathering in Davos where President Donald Trump’s Gaza ceasefire plan is high on the agenda. Trump hopes to establish his Board of Peace at the World Economic Forum in the Swiss ski resort to oversee the ceasefire.

An Israeli official says the nation has been asked to join U.S. President Donald Trump’s new Board of Peace that will supervise the next phase of the Gaza peace plan. It’s not known whether Israel has accepted. A French official, though, says France does not plan to joining the board at this stage despite getting an invitation. The board will oversee the Gaza executive committee that’s tasked with seeing through key provisions of the peace plan. That includes the deployment of an international security force, disarmament of Hamas and the territory’s reconstruction. The EU’s executive arm, Russia, Belarus and Thailand are among the latest to say they’ve been asked to join.
