In his freshman year with the Illini he played in 33 games coming off the bench and averaged 3.3 points per game. Rodgers shot just over 51% from the field.

In his sophomore year he played and started in all 38 games for Illinois. He averaged 6.2 points per game, shot just over 52% from the field, pulled down 201 rebounds, and had 76 assists.
