DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Millikin basketball came up empty after a home double-header against Elmhurst on Saturday. The women's program finished with a strong 4th quarter effort but fell 72-63. Afterward, the men took the floor and could not keep up with an efficient Bluejays offense, losing 80-72.

The Big Blue women's squad started in an early 11-0 hole, but responded with a run of their own to tie the game at 13. A strong 2nd and 3rd quarter gave Elmhurst cushion going into the final quarter. Millikin mounted 29 points in the last frame, but were unable to top the Bluejays. Nikki Johnson led the Millikin scorers with 27 points.

On the men's side, the visitors carried a 33-31 lead into halftime, but would stretch their lead just beyond the reach of Millikin. Behind 17-point efforts by Chris Ketchum and Lane Thomann, Big Blue cut the deficit to single-digits several times, but were unable to overtake the guests. Senior Nate Straughter was honored at the start of the game for reaching 1,000 career points in a Big Blue uniform.
