Millikin hoping strong pitching and defense continues in the postseason

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Millikin baseball is one day away from starting its postseason run as the school hosts the CCIW tournament.

The Big Blue finished the regular season with an overall record of 32-8 and is currently ranked #24 in the ABCA Coaches' Top 25 poll.

Head Coach Brandon Townsend said he credits a lot of their success to the dominant pitching and defense the team has had this season.

Millikin's pitching staff has the third-lowest ERA in the country at 2.75.

Millikin earned a first-round bye as the #1 seed and will begin tournament play May 7 at 12 p.m. against Carthage at Workman Family Baseball Field.
