DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The wind; pesky and mighty at times, comes from a change in pressure. Greater the change in pressure, greater the wind speed. Although we haven't had a lot of storms over the past week, they have been close enough to bring that change in pressure; with or without rain. Â
The good news is we finally catch somewhat of a break tonight. An approaching clipper storm is fairly weak and should only allow for wind in the neighborhood of 5-10 mph with an occasional gust in the lower teens. The wind will pick up slightly again tomorrow, for Halloween. However, wind gust will be held in check and remain below 20 mph. A more tranquil weekend will ensue. Â
If you are trick-or-treating, the prospects of a sprinkle north of I-74 cannot be ignored, but it wouldn't argue for an umbrella. Elsewhere, most of the early evening should be in the 50s.Â
Stay safe, stay weather-aware and happy Halloween.Â
