5 Things to do this weekend

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The weekend is upon us, and there are plenty of things to do and see across Central Illinois.

Here are a selection of events, markets, concerts and more happening Friday, Dec. 26, to Sunday, Dec. 28.

Shelbyville Festival of Trees

Visit the Shelbyville Festival of Trees at the Chautauqua in Forest Park and take in dozens of beautifully decorated Christmas trees during your holiday lights visit. Stroll through the displays, soak in the seasonal magic and don’t forget to vote for your favorite tree! 

When: Friday, Nov. 21 to Thursday, Jan. 1, Sunday & Thursday hours 5-9 p.m., Friday & Saturday hours 5-10 p.m. 

Where: Forest Park, 325 E. North 9th St., Shelbyville

Demo Days

Ever wanted to learn how to play that board game you've had your eye on before buying it? Now you can this Saturday at The Scratching Post CU cat and board game cafe in Champaign.

When: Saturday, Dec. 27, 2-10 p.m.

Where: The Scratching Post CU, 114 E. University Ave., Champaign

Pathway of Lights

Enjoy the final night of the Pathway of Lights on Saturday at the Aikman Wildlife Adventure. Attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite pair of pajamas to relax in while enjoying the lights in this wild venue. 

When: Saturday, Dec. 27, 4-8 p.m.

Where: Aikman Wildlife Adventure, 125 N Co Rd 425E, Arcola

Wintree Wonderland at White Oaks Mall

This will be the final weekend of the Wintree Wonderland, so be sure to check it out before it leaves White Oaks Mall for the holiday season on New Year's Eve. Additionally, this event features over 45 beautifully decorated Christmas trees created by local designers, schools and scout groups. 

When: Open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Dec. 26 and 27, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 28

Where: White Oaks Mall, 2501 Wabash Ave, Springfield

Public Skate at U of I

Eager to show off your ice skating skills on a post-holiday skate date? Then, take to the ice at the University of Illinois on Saturday on Sunday.  

When: Saturday, Dec. 27 and Sunday, Dec. 28, 1:30-4 p.m.

Where: U of I Ice Arena
