DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The City of Decatur is looking for community feedback on proposed improvements to the Nelson Park boat ramps that serve Lake Decatur.
Residents can view three proposed options and choose their preference by clicking HERE.Â
Each option will include new concrete ramps and ADA-accessible floating docks. The difference is the number of ramp lanes and floating gangways/docks.
The City and Decatur Park District continue to work with G&H Marine to improve Pier 36 Marina. Plans include 40 new boat slips (two new floating docks, 20 slips each), a new retail gas dock, rental boat service, and a waterfront convenience store with boating accessories, drinks, snacks, and ice. Lake Patrol will have new docks built as well.
The Nelson Park ramps have not received significant improvement for over 50 years.
The City hopes to complete the new ramp improvements in late 2024 or early 2025.
