Squad car hit in Scott's Law violation

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - An Illinois State Police squad car was hit on Interstate 55 Tuesday. 

The trooper's squad was hit by another vehicle during a commercial motor vehicle inspection. 

It happened at 12:40 p.m. while the trooper was stopped on the shoulder of I-55 northbound near East Lake Shore Drive (milepost 88). 

The squad's emergency lights were activated, and the trooper was standing outside inspecting the semi-truck. 

A U-Haul truck pulling a trailer failed to move over and sideswiped the squad car. 

No injuries were reported. 

The driver of the U-Haual, 79-year-old Lynn Pulfrey rom Rockford, IL, was cited for improper lane usage and a Scott's Law violation.
