ATWOOD, Ill. (WAND) — The Atwood Police Department is searching for a Decatur man they say is responsible for breaking into multiple storage units at the Atwood Mini Storage and stealing thousands of dollars' worth of personal items.

Officials say the burglaries happened during the early morning of September 18. A thousand dollars' worth of personal property were stolen, including the surveillance cameras belonging to the storage facility.

Multiple police departments assisted with the investigation and quickly identified a vehicle involved in the burglary, ultimately identifying the suspect as Cody Leach of Decatur.

On September 20, Atwood police located Leach's vehicle at an address in Decatur. With the assistance of Decatur PD, a search warrant for the residence was executed. During the search officials say they uncovered the stolen property as well as meth and a loaded weapon.

Multiple warrants have been issued for Leach for numerous counts of burglary and theft. The Atwood Police Department is asking the public for help in locating him.
