DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Decatur Park District and Lindsey Communities are announcing a new partnership to bring an Adult Day Center to Decatur in 2026.

As part of the collaboration, Lindsey Communities’ non-profit Adult Day entity, Lindsey Life, will lease space from the Decatur Park District to launch an Adult Day Services program.

“Partnering with the Decatur Park District allows us to extend our mission of delivering care and services to a new community,” said Laura Edwards, Executive Director of Lindsey Life. “Adult Day Centers provide a secure, engaging environment for older adults and peace of mind for their loved ones.”

The Adult Day Center, which will be called “The Lindsey Life Center” will offer meals, personal care, social engagement, wellness activities, and nursing services. The Center will initially operate in a temporary location at 1689 S. Franklin Street in South Shores and is anticipated to be open Monday through Friday from 7:30AM until 5:30PM with full-day and half-day options.

When the Decatur Park District’s new Scovill West Activity Center is finished, the Adult Day Center will relocate to the existing Scovill West Activity Center at 3909 W. Main St.

For those that are Medicaid eligible, services may be covered at no cost to the individual by the Illinois Department of Aging, Illinois Department of Human Services Division of Rehabilitative Services and a variety of Medicaid Managed Care Organizations such as Molina, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna and Meridian. Veterans may have the cost of services covered by the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs. Private pay options will also be available.

"We are proud to welcome Lindsey Life as a valued partner in our mission to support the well being of the seniors in our community,” said Clay Gerhard, Executive Director of the Decatur Park District. “After several years without this vital service, the return of adult daycare to Decatur is a meaningful step forward for our aging population. While the program will launch in a temporary location, it is planned to ultimately become a key component of the new Scovill Activity Center - part of our broader vision to establish a vibrant campus for our growing senior population. This campus will bring recreational opportunities together with essential services, social connections, and wellness resources - all under one roof. Through partnerships like this, the Park District continues to invest in inclusive, forward-thinking spaces that enhance quality of life at every age."
