DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Macon County law enforcement has arrested a driver who they said hit a man with their vehicle and then drove away.Â
According to the Macon County Sheriff's Office, on Sunday at 6:30 p.m., Ameren workers were in the area of Turpin Road and South Shores Drive when a truck driving northbound hit a worker and then drove away.
"The man was severely injured," said Lt. Scott Flannery. Flannery said the man's injuries included several broken vertebrae and a severe concussion.Â
Thursday morning, 39-year-old Clifford England of Decatur was charged in that hit-and-run. He is being transported to the Macon County Jail.Â
According to MCSO, the Ameren truck had its lights on and cones placed around it.
