DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A Decatur man was arrested earlier this month after being accused of sexually assaulting two children.

Macon County court records show 58-year-old Laquania Wallace was charged with seven counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child under 13, along with grooming and sexual abuse.

According to a sworn statement, the mother told a DCFS investigator in June that her children were behaving sexually.

When she asked where the child had learned it, they said from someone referred to as "PopPop."

Police said in the sworn that "PopPop" had lived with them from June 2025 to January. 

The sworn said that investigators alleged that Wallace had shown the children sexually explicit videos and forced sexual acts. Wallace was later identified as "PopPop" through a photo and by investigators. 

Following an investigation, Decatur police arrested Wallace on July 16 at a home on South Side Drive. 

According to the sworn statement, Wallace told police in a Mirandized interview that he lived at the home "off and on," but denied sexually assaulting the children and being alone with them. 

Wallace was denied pretrial release and is due back in court Wednesday.
